Boston Marathon faring well against many of the top distance runners in the
world. Emily Chaney, Alan Horton, Bobby Holcombe and Michelle Meek

Alan Horton, who competed in the Olympic Marathon Trial last November, went out with the leaders at Boston and actually led the pack through the first mile split. Horton was able to hang on to the elite field and finish 25th overall and 8th among Americans running a time of 2:25:14. Emily Chaney is one of Runners Market's newest team members who grew up in Maryville but now resides in Oak Hill, West Virginia and often travels back to East Tennessee for races. Emily broke 3 hours for the first time smashing her old personal record running a 2:59:01. Michelle Meek, who just moved to Knoxville from Chattanooga qualified for Boston on her very first marathon attempt. Despite an injury that has been hampering Michelle's training for the past several weeks, she was able to battle through the hilly course and finish with a time of 4:21:50. Race team captain Bobby Holcombe was coming off a solid season of high mileage training and intense workouts to prepare for Boston and it paid off for him as he set new a personal best of 2:37:02. The Runners Market would like to congratulate all those runners from Knoxville who ran Boston. You make us proud! |
