Alan is going through his running log and calculating what his splits should be while taking an ice bath at his hotel the night before the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials.

4 a.m. comes awfully early...

Horton checks out one last weather forecast and gets his gear together before heading over to Central Park where the race will begin at 7:30 a.m.

Alan posing with his race competition hoping some magazine editors might take notice for future cover possibilities.

After the race, all the athletes are invited to the post race party where the awards ceremony takes place.  Here, Alan poses with Ryan Hall who blew away the field and broke the U.S. Marathon Trials record running 2:09:02, over two minutes ahead of second place...

Alan with 3rd place finisher Brian Sell who took the last Olympic qualifying spot running a solid 2:11:40.  Also pictured is Kyle O'Brien who is teamates with Sell on the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project.
Alan also got to meet some world class runners from the New York Marathon, which took place on Sunday.  Horton poses here with marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe who won the New York Marathon in a time of 2:23:09.

Meb Keflezighi was another favorite to make the Olympic team but faded to 8th with a time of 2:15:09
After business was taken care of, Alan got to enjoy a couple days of  sight seeing with his girlfriend Michelle before heading back to Knoxville.
